Polk County Loop: Hike the trails of Ankeny Wildlife Refuge, then cross the Willamette Ferry to see the Wings of Wonder Butterfly exhibit, walk the paths of Helmick State Park, drive out to thundering Falls City Falls, then see the Japanese Gardens of Dallas City Park. Stay & visit the antique stores. About 5 miles hiking.

Sat.May 1st.. New ! twist on an old favorite: Photo trip up Eagle Creek. See the sites we often miss along the way: Hike down to the brink of Punchbowl Falls; take a side trip to double-drop Skoonichuck Falls; then make a short scramble up to 100ft. Wyeast Falls hidden in a grotto. Easy 8 miles total. Exposure. Dogs on leash only.

Sun.May 16th.. New !Sunday Parkways: Afternoon riding in town with no traffic. The city blocks off the traffic for safe riding on the streets of Portland choosing the more scenic areas. We could meet after church for these. The routes will be posted.

Sat.May 22nd.. New ! Coastal Bird Hike to Clatsop Spit. Come see the breeding shore birds and sea ducks. Moderate hiking in the sand. 4.5 miles.

New! Ride over the recently-opened, mile-long trestle on the Banks-Vernonia Rail Line. Continue on a new trail into Banks, then ride north over some rolling hills through the forest. 21 miles of easy, paved trails with shuttle. Call Dave or Jim 503-644-2344.

Sunday July 18th..Parkways..

Portland on Line
24th-26th – New!.. See the wildflower meadows of Iron Mt. Drive through a Covered Bridge, then camp on the way to Cone Peak. Leave camping gear in your trunk and hike a 6.6 m. loop through a wildflower meadow and 360o views. Bring camera and extra layers for possible windy summit. Camp the night, then stop to see several waterfalls on the way home Saturday. NW Forest Pass required. We’ll try to make it easy with a car shuttle. Saturday July 31st,2010.. .....Junior Rodeo. Catch the 'National Anthem" at 12 o'clock. THEN....The "Narrows" Trail.....Under two miles total we will go to two locations off one trail for a viewpoint of the river and to enjoy riverside. Sat.11th..New!!

Take the loop up the alpine trail to Silcox hut. Reach as high as the top of “The Mile” lift. Then turn around for some breath-taking views of Timothy Lake and Mt. Jefferson. 3 mile loop, 1100’ elevation gain. (yikes!) Don’t let the mileage fool you; we’ll be climbing a steep hill with no water available. Small dogs not recommended. SAT.OCT. 9th.......Popular....TABLE ROCK TRAIL....HUFF and PUFF out the whole seven miles...up to very scenic TABLE ROCK...across the top and down past the ROOSTER ROCK area. We will provide a shuttle. This hike will be led by Dave and Lynn...Upward Trails guides. Karen will run shuttle.
