SAT.April 16th.. Cherry Orchard Trail. About 5 miles of dessert hiking near Lyle, WA. About 1100’ elevation gain if we go all the way. See the wildflowers and far-ranging views of the Columbia River. There’s also some Geocaches to look for along trail.

Take the free WHEATLAND FERRY across the river to explore historic Wheatland and back. SAT.May 21st.. Hike or ride Clatsop Spit. Hike to see breeding seabirds along the bay area of the Columbia River. Starts along dunes of the river, then goes 2.3 miles to the jetty, then back along the beach to cars. Moderate hiking in the sand at 4.6 miles total. For hiking, call Seth at 503-522-7205.

See the sites we often miss along the way: Hike down to the brink of Punchbowl Falls; take a side trip to double-drop Skoonichuck Falls; then make a short scramble up to 100’ Wyeast Falls hidden in a grotto. HIKING....THE MOLALLA RIVER RECREATION CORRIDOR!!!
Saturday July 2nd,2011..
...Warm up our hiking legs on the WELCOME TRAIL, a short walk to rivers edge. The YELLOW GATE trail will then be our destination hiking to the VIEWPOINT with an option to see ANNIES CABIN. This trail starts VERY UPHILL for a quarter of a mile then joins the Hardy Creek trail systems HUCKLEBERRY TRAIL which is an easy trail area. We will cross SHOTGUN CREEK and after our hike could take a peek at SHOTGUN FALLS!!

SAT.Jully 2nd..New! Let.s do the Memaloose Lake hike and then up to Memaloose and then up to South Fork Mt. Snow may still be an issue but I will look into it. 4.8 miles round trip and 1400 ft. if all the way to the mt. At the top you can see Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Sisters, Broken Top, Adams, St. Helens, Rainier, and Hood of course. The lake itself looks pretty. Call Seth at 503-522-7205.

SAT.July 20th to 24th..New We will be backpacking up to the high country in the Gorge from Wednesday through Sunday. Come join us for the whole 30-mile trip or any part of it for a day hike or overnight. Here is the agenda:
Wednesday to Indian Point and Deadwood Camp.
Thursday to North Lake to camp.
Friday to Bear Lake, then to the top of Mt. Defiance, then down to camp at Rainy Lake.
Saturday hike over Green Point Mt. and back to Deadwood Camp.
Sunday return to start near Cascade Locks.
Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday would each make nice out-n-back day hikes.

SAT.August 20th.Triple Feature.. BOOTS in AUGUST HIKING...play time!!!..please wear waterproof boots or bring a couple extra pair shoes. Thank you. TWO very short but scenic STREAM WALKING 'trails'. First one goes to a pretty waterfalls about 100 yards of stream walking. Secondly we will enjoy a pretty stream walk. We will also see large logs in a stream where a bridge was washed out a few years ago in the 'young' Molalla. VERY scenic narrows lend to a great picnic, family area. Oh yes, a rock quarry with white threads of Quartz...and yes, where there is Quartz, there is gold. This was the area of a historic 100 year old gold mine. Call Karen at 503-919-9027. SAT.August 20th.. New! Let’s try for the caves again. This will be a one night overnighter at least. We’ll do Redmond Caves, Boyd Cave, and maybe Charcoal and/or Pictograph caves if we can. I read that Wind Cave was closed for bats. I will relook at that. If need be, we can always do a classic Lava River Caves too. Call Seth at 503-522-7205.

SAT.August 20th.. New! It's now $11.50 for one day to park at Beacon Rock, so let's hike the old Alpine Ski Trail from Government Camp to Timberline Lodge instead. About 6 miles round trip. Good workout. Call Dave or Lynn 503-668-8950.
SAT.August 27th.. 27th - New! Up the alpine trail to Silcox hut. Reach as high as the top of “The Mile” lift. Then turn around for some breath-taking views of Timothy Lake and Mt. Jefferson. 2.2 mile loop, 1100’ elevation gain. Don’t let the mileage fool you; we’ll be climbing a steep hill with no water available. Small dogs not recommended. 35 m. from meeting place. SAT.September 3rd..Double Feature... 3rd - Again, just outside the Molalla River Recreational Corridor...visit very scenic BUTTE CREEK FALLS. Just barely over a mile scenic view of THREE waterfalls one of which we can walk BEHIND. Then...option....THE TOWER....for those who would like...we will drive to THE TOWER for a great scenic view. SAT.September 17th..Double Feature... 17th - Check out KOLO FALLS and 5-D's FALLS on the way to hike the circle of JOYCE LAKE. We will include a short drive to overlook the Bagby Hot Springs area, Bull of the Woods, Mt. Jefferson area and Opal Creek area. SAT.September 17th.. Up high on Mt Hood's Northeast side.....hike the very scenic and difficult Cooper Spur Trail starting high above the trees. Within minutes you’ll be close to glaciers and snowfields. Perhaps hike partway and meet the group coming down. Look down on the glaciers on this trail above the tree line. 8 miles total with option for shorter. 63 miles from meeting place including 9 m. gravel. SAT.October 1st..Double Feature... Here we go.....PHOTO READY....we will hike to PECHUCK LOOKOUT. This trail starts out steep for a bit of a mile then levels off enough to give us a nice break before reaching the old fire lookout station and all the surrounding view of the snow caps!! SAT.Dec.. 3rd..New Watch the waterfowl and birds of pray at Stiegerwald Lake near Washougal. Nice stroll at a new Wildlife Refuge. Some views looking east up the Gorge. Trail eventually connects with Washougal Dike Trail. At least 3 miles total. Easy hiking; no elevation gain. Kid friendly. Call Seth at 503-522-7205.

SAT.Dec. 17th..New – Birthday celebration hike to WAHCLELLA FALLS on the Tanner Creek trail in the COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE!!! 2 miles round trip...then we will go to Bonneville Dam fish hatchery to see the 'big fish' and up to Bonneville tourist center to see and count any fish coming through the 'ladder'.
